Léré, a town of water, is crossed by the Loire River and the lateral canal, and dotted with wells, fountains, and wash houses.
This abundance of water inspires many artists and serves as a central theme for several exhibitions. The festival celebrates this liquid heritage by placing it within the context of current water management challenges. In Léré, water is not just a backdrop: it is a subject, a living heritage, an urgent need to be shared.
Agricultural Fairs
The agricultural fair is a vibrant tradition in Léré, a testament to the town's attachment to the farming world. Léré Grand Angle embraces this dynamic by paying tribute to the practices, the seasons, and the cultivated landscapes. Photographers explore agriculture past and present, between traditional skills and ecological changes. The festival thus creates a dialogue between rural and visual culture, between the land and the gaze.
Bio-diversity
From dragonflies to toads, from blackbirds to towering trees, Léré is a haven of biodiversity. The exhibitions explore these ecosystems, highlighting their beauty but also their fragility. Photography becomes a tool for raising awareness of the richness of life, in the midst of an ecological crisis. To observe, document, and inspire wonder: this is the mission of the artists invited to capture this ordinary yet precious nature.
Crowdfunding
Léré Grand Angle is launched thanks to the support of its residents, friends, family, and partners. A call for contributions via crowdfunding platforms ("love money") launched the project in a spirit of collective effort. Every donation is an act of trust; every euro strengthens artistic freedom and the festival's openness. It's another way of building a cultural event: with, and not for, the local community.
Human Environment
Léré is also a certain art of living, a warmth of community, a recognized "know-how of celebration." The festival is based on this collective energy, on the desire to create together, with joy and curiosity. Each edition is a celebration: images, encounters, moments of sharing under the chestnut trees. Humans are at the center of the project, as the subject of the photographs, but above all as the driving force behind the festival.
