An observation:
People in our villages don't travel for cultural visits.
Our proposal:
Our photography festival offers a series of 10 internationally renowned photo exhibitions for Bourges 2028, displayed in several villages on a rotating basis.
The photo exhibition is first presented in our village of Léré.
Then, two years later, it is offered to another village in the Cher department, elsewhere in France, or even in Europe, selected after publication and applications on social media.
This allows us to both reduce our overall carbon footprint by reusing photo prints, to co-create photographic projects, and to bring the culture and messages of Bourges 2028 closer to the villagers in rural areas.
Culture Léré is a space dedicated to promoting local and international culture. We offer a variety of events, workshops, and exhibitions that celebrate cultural diversity. Our mission is to bring communities together and encourage cultural exchange.

A festival focused on documentary photography and emerging talent
The festival will focus on documentary photography and showcase emerging talent. In particular, an "off" space will be open to young photographers, providing them with an accessible opportunity to exhibit their work to the public and the press.
Festival format
Annual festival format: 10 exhibitions from May to September.
Year 1 (2026): 10 exhibitions, including 2 invited European photographers
Year 2 (2027): 10 exhibitions, including 2 photographers in residence
Year 3 (2028): To coincide with Bourges 2028, the festival will create 10 themed exhibitions designed specifically for the event by photographers pre-selected a year in advance.
Subsequent years (2028+): The festival will continue.
The Festival will launch on the first weekend of May 2026, with a festive event including:
- Presentation of exhibitions in inspiring locations throughout the village: Saint Martin Collegiate Church, the river port, the Saint Germain wash house, the town hall gardens, the icehouse, etc.,
- Installation of a large screen in the town hall garden for a continuous screening of around thirty photographic works on the theme of the environment (artists' choice and personal favorites),
- Artistic performances and DJ sets to liven up the opening night,
- Setting up a photo equipment exchange/flea market,
- Creation of a digital bookstore specializing in photography books (online sales).
