Photographers from other European countries present their perspectives, focusing on the dialogue between urban centers and rural peripheries, while maintaining the values and challenges of Bourges 2028.
Léré Grand Angle is a photography festival that challenges conventional viewpoints.
It offers a fresh perspective on rural life, seen not from within, but through the eyes of artists from elsewhere, from other regions of Europe.
Urban photographers, nomadic artists, Europeans from diverse backgrounds...
...are invited to cast their gaze upon our villages, upon what it means to live along the Loire River, at the pace of rural life. This convergence of perspectives allows us to move beyond the usual view, to question assumptions, to challenge clichés.
Rural life becomes a field of inquiry, inspiration, and dialogue.
But the movement is reciprocal: in turn, our villages embrace urban issues. The festival invites us to collectively consider the divides and connections between urban and rural areas: mobility, isolation, ecological transition, migration, soil sealing, and access to culture.
Each exhibition is a story, an encounter, an invitation to see things differently.
The artworks are exhibited in Léré, in the streets and on walls, and then travel to other villages in France and Europe through an open application process. This itinerant approach promotes sustainable transportation, resource sharing, and a reduced carbon footprint.
The project embodies the values of B28: inclusion, biodiversity, water management, and development.
The exhibition design adapts to each location with simplicity and poetry, working closely with residents and respecting the specific architectural features. Culture Léré, the organizing body, is a space for artistic and civic experimentation, dedicated to the connection between culture and territory. Léré Grand Angle is a festival on a human scale, but with European ambitions. It uses photography as a catalyst for awakening, emotion, and collective consciousness. Because sometimes it takes an outsider's perspective to reveal what we no longer see at home.
And because in 2028, in Léré, the countryside becomes a meeting place for the world.
